When did you last allow yourself to play?

Many of my clients are mothers.

Many are stressed, overwhelmingly fatigued, anxious or depressed.

Raising children is a rewarding and beautiful experience. The problem is, when submerged under endless school lunches, kids' emotional demands, cooking, tidying up and shopping for everyone, driving to and from school or after-school activities, homework, often combined with work commitments (the list goes on and on...), we mothers are at risk of fogetting who we are. As we fall into the last category in our list of priorities, we begin to do things out of responsibility and obligation. We die a little in the routine. Our souls stop singing.

I ask my mother clients when the last time was they did something they really enjoyed, the last time they danced, or expressed themselves creatively. Most often than not, they stare at me blankly, spend a moment raking their memories, only to come up with "I can't remember". Worse, when I then ask them what they enjoy doing, the answer is usually "I don't even know any more".

The good news is, there is a way to feed your soul while looking after all your loved ones. Make sure you put aside some time every week to be playful, to explore your creative muses, to be a part of Nature, or to be your old self by doing something you really enjoy. Treat this time as a priority, just like you would never miss washing the laundry.

Thank you Claire Delaney from Riverhead for your amazing art workshops. Food for my soul...
